Mainline Computer Rittal Aisle ContainmentRittal has developed an aisle containment solution for significantly improving cooling efficiency in the data center. This approach allows customers to use their existing cooling infrastructure (CRAC units delivering air through raised floor) for high density loads up to 20 kW per cabinet. Containing the cold aisle keeps cool air at the server intake where it is needed most. It also prevents hot air from re-circulating to the front of the cabinets. In addition, by keeping the cold air from the hot aisle, warmer air is returned to the CRAC unit increasing overall efficiency. Sites that have implemented this approach have realized 40-55% efficiency gains.
